I picked up this soundset last night and I have to tell you I have not been this excited since the day I got my ES.
The set is organized not by voice but by song, which puts all the voices for a given song back to back. Also, some of the songs that require more than one voice or layers are programmed into performances. You can tell that the set was crafted very carefully and is extremely detailed........the voices sound just like the original recordings!
I bought this set to help with my live playing. I have to admit there were only 7-8 songs I needed, but after I heard the demos I pulled the trigger and I feel the set was worth it for those voice set-ups alone. Now I have even more to work with and hope to expand our setlist asap as soon as I learn these new tunes.

I purchased this just a few days ago and received the email with the All files attached. I just can't believe my ears. These are right on for the songs associated with each patch. Many of the patches are combined into performances with splits and layers.
This is one of the best voice libraries available and rivals (beating most) of those offered in the MotifMart. If you need voices for any of these songs or would like to use the voice in another song, don't hesitate to purchase this.

I am not a frequent contributor to this board but I felt that I needed to post a message outlining how much I am enjoying the “80s Pop/Rock Soundset”. These sounds are just what I am looking for. They sound so good – so close to the original sounds – that I often find myself laughing out loud while playing them – it is just so rewarding playing these sounds on my ES 7. I know this phrase has been overdone – but I feel these sounds really do breathe new life into my Motif.
I discovered these sounds while perusing the sounds area of the Motifator board and sampling some of Rick’s attachments. I was so impressed with them – that I felt a need to contact him directly via e-mail to tell him how impressed I was, and to encourage him to make these sounds available to others. I was even inspired to purchase an ES 7 to play these sounds. It came in last week (I am in love with the FS action key feel). This nicely complements my Motif 7 which is loaded with DCP’s Vintages Keys sounds (they are great too).
For some people – creating new sounds is part of the thrill of owning a synth. While I applaud this approach – I would rather spend my time playing and creating music. These sounds are inspiring. Much like when you dust off some old LPs and give them another listen – suddenly remembering just how good they sound - I get the same inspiration from these sounds.
Some of my favorites include “Subdivisions” – I swear when I play that setting I can hear the rest of Rush playing with me – all the accompanying instruments. I really like the lead sound for “Tom Sawyer” as well. One added perk is that I have found other uses for the great lead sounds that this soundest offers. “Here I Go Again” once again – nails it. Which leads me to ask – “Rick, are there any sounds you can’t duplicate?” I haven’t been disappointed yet.
The performance for VH’s “When It’s Love” just blows me away. It is so close that it makes me want to start jamming again with friends – just to see their faces when I audition this sound. Same for the “1984” performance. “Love Walks In” sounds great too. The “’l’ll Wait” sound is simply just killer. These sounds really make these tunes so much more enjoyable to play.
Any drawbacks? Not that I can think of other than I now have a long list of requests for sounds. I really like the idea of the Custom Sound Design option. I am already thinking of requests. A 70s Pop/Rock soundset would be great. I would really like the keyboard intro to Manfred Mann’s “Blinded By The Light” – it is such a distinctive sound. I know it would be a tough sound to emulate. But if anyone can do it – I bet Rick can. An 80s Pop/Rock Soundset II also perhaps? It would be nice to have a more complete Van Halen package with a “Dreams” performance as well as the sound for “Why Can’t This Be Love”. Also, it would be nice to have a list of sounds and performances – and be able to select them individually from the list – so you only pay for the sounds you are most interested in.
I am looking forward to purchasing sounds as fast as Rick can create them.
Take care,
Mike
